Marymount University Teacher Training in Uganda – In the Spring of 2019, Marymount organized workshops on active learning strategies for teachers at Arlington Junior School and other outreach public schools in Uganda.
Students and Professors Study tour to Reggio Emilia, Italy – In the Spring of 2018, The North American Reggio Emilia Alliance organized a group of professors and students to visit various preschools in Reggio Emilia. The tour gave visibility to the values of the philosophy through a combination of visits to schools, presentations, meetings, and exchanges of experiences.
Phi Delta Kappa (PDK) – In the Fall of 2014, PDK brought members on a 10-day global study tour to Amsterdam and France. The tour included school visits, a visit to the

International Reading Association (IRA) – In the Fall of 2011, IRA invited several members to join a six-day research delegation to Cuba. The purpose of the tour was to investigate the impact of the 1961 Cuban literacy project and its long term effects on the general public.
People to People Language and Literacy Delegation – In the Summer of 2010, Dr. Patricia Edwards lead a delegation of literacy professionals to Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa to learn about its schools and literacy education.
Business in Dubai, Prince George’s Community College – In the Spring of 2010, the Business Department at Prince George’s Community College sponsored a ten-day study tour program to the United Arab Emirates. The program included a visit to Dubai, Fujairah, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Oman.
Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund Teacher Program – I was accepted into the Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund (JFMF) Teacher Program in the Fall of 2008. JFMF was established to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Fulbright Program — a U.S. government-initiated project created in 1946 to foster mutual understanding through exchanges of university students, faculty and researchers.
Graduate Reading: ESOL in Costa Rica, Towson University – In the Summer of 2008, Towson University hosted a study abroad Graduate Reading Course in Costa Rica. This tour provided information on how to work with English language learners. Through cultural immersion experiences, participants gained some familiarity with the culture and language of one of the largest groups of second language learners in the U.S. – the Spanish speaking community.
Business in China, Prince George’s Community College – In the Spring of 2008, the Business Department at Prince George’s Community College sponsored a two-week study tour program to China. The program included a visit to Beijing, Shenzhen, Xian, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. The tour included historical sites and learning about Chinese history and culture.
